1. Applying for initial registration
For initial registration, you must meet the entry requirements and successfully complete the examination for scope A9.
- You are at least 18 years old.

- You have demonstrably completed training that meets the SWOD training curriculum for the relevant scope.
- You demonstrate this with a training dossier from a training course recognised by the registration body.
- You submit the application within 12 months after meeting the training curriculum requirements.
Examination A9
The initial-registration examination consists of a theory examination and a practical examination. The theory examination must be passed before you may take the practical examination.

Twenty-four months after registration or re-registration, the registration body checks the diving logbook to verify that sufficient continuous practical experience has been obtained. You must cooperate with this interim check.
4. Re-registration A9
Re-registration requires a positive portfolio assessment and a passed practical examination. The re-registration practical examination is the same as the initial-registration practical examination.

Diving Supervisor – scope C

1. Applying for initial registration
- You have reached the required minimum age: 24 years.
- You hold, or held no more than 4 years ago, a valid Diver and/or Diving Supervisor registration in the relevant scope, or evidence of an equivalent diver qualification.
- You have at least two calendar years of work experience as a diver and, during the preceding 8 years, can demonstrate: 400 lockout hours in Diver scope C + IMCA ‘Bell Diving Supervisor’.
- You have demonstrably completed training that meets the SWOD training curriculum for the relevant Diving Supervisor scope.
Examination
The candidate takes the examination prescribed in the relevant scope appendix to the Registration Scheme. After a positive examination result, registration can be applied for with the registration body.
2. Maintaining a valid registration
Keep the diving supervisor logbook complete and verifiable.
3. Mandatory 24-month check
Twenty-four months after registration or re-registration, the registration body checks the diving supervisor logbook to determine whether the continuous practical-experience requirement has been met.
4. Re-registration
For scope C, the re-registration route consists of: Portfolio + theory examination. The components must be completed within the periods specified in the Registration Scheme and before the expiry date.

Diving Medical Attendant – scope B1
Medical support during diving work in Diver scopes A9, A15 and A15OLV.
1. Applying for initial registration
To be admitted to the examination, the candidate must demonstrably have successfully completed training that meets the SWOD training curriculum for scope B1. This is demonstrated by a training dossier from a training provider recognised by the registration body. The application for registration must be submitted within 12 months after meeting the training curriculum requirements.
Examination B1
Practical: practical examination in accordance with the assessment matrix for scope B1. For registration, both theory and practical examinations must be passed. Examination results remain valid for six months.
2. Maintaining a valid registration
The registration is valid for two years. The Registration Scheme for Diving Medical Attendant does not contain a separate 24-month interim check.
3. Re-registration
For initial registration: training in accordance with the SWOD B1 training curriculum. For re-registration: a valid B1 registration and the prescribed refresher training, demonstrated by a refresher-training portfolio.

The registration is valid for five years. The scheme does not include a 24-month interim check as used for Diver and Diving Supervisor. During the registration period, the portfolio requirements for re-registration must be demonstrably maintained.
3. Re-registration
The portfolio assessment takes place within the final six months before the registration expiry date.
Portfolio requirements not yet met
If the portfolio assessment shows that not all requirements have yet been met, the registration may, subject to the conditions of the Registration Scheme, be extended once for a maximum of one year. The duration of that extension is deducted from the subsequent registration period.
